Pumpkins, Pink Doors & Finding Home
There is just something special about fall in Middle Tennessee. The cooler mornings, changing leaves, pumpkins on porches, and that feeling that it’s finally time to slow down a little and enjoy the season.
This week, I spent some time doing a few of my favorite things. Mom and I took a little ride, with no big agenda other than enjoying the day together. We stopped at a fabric store to browse, and of course, I couldn’t leave without a few goodies! I love looking at all the colors, patterns, and possibilities. Sometimes it’s the simplest outings that turn into the sweetest memories.
And because it’s October, pumpkin shopping was a must!
I came home with an assortment of pumpkins in different shapes, sizes, and colors, all ready to decorate my front porch. But this year, there’s something a little different about my fall decorating.
I have a newly painted PINK front door!
Yes, pink! And I absolutely love it.
There’s something about adding a little personality to your home that makes it feel even more like yours. My pink door makes me smile every time I pull into the driveway, and now, with pumpkins gathered around it, my porch is looking just the way I imagined.
And that got me thinking about something I talk about all the time as a REALTOR®.
There’s Something Special About Having a Place to Call Your Own
Homeownership is about so much more than square footage, interest rates, and mortgage payments.
It’s about painting your front door whatever color makes you happy.
It’s about decorating your porch for fall, planting flowers in the spring, hanging Christmas lights in December, and creating a place where your family and friends feel welcome.
It’s about making memories in a place that belongs to you.
Of course, I know buying a home is a big financial decision. And I know many potential buyers are watching interest rates, wondering whether they should wait.
Let’s Talk About the Middle Tennessee Housing Market
You’ve probably heard plenty of conversations about mortgage rates lately. Yes, rates are higher than the historic lows we experienced a few years ago. And yes, that affects monthly payments and purchasing power.
But here’s something I want buyers to remember:
Homes are still selling. People are still moving. And people are still becoming homeowners.
Life doesn’t stop because interest rates change.
Families grow. Jobs change. People get married, downsize, relocate, or simply decide they’re ready for a place of their own.
The right time to buy isn’t determined by a headline. It’s determined by your finances, your needs, and your long-term goals.
In some situations, buyers may find opportunities to negotiate on price, repairs, or seller contributions toward closing costs. Every property and every situation is different, but those are conversations worth having.
And if you’re waiting for the perfect interest rate, remember that no one knows exactly when rates will move or what home prices will do next.
My job is to help you understand your options so you can make a decision that makes sense for YOU.
Maybe Next Fall, It’ll Be Your Porch
As I stood back and admired those pumpkins against my pink front door, I thought about how much joy there is in the little things that make a house feel like home.
Maybe you’ve been dreaming about a front porch with rocking chairs.
Maybe it’s a backyard where the kids can play, a kitchen big enough for family gatherings, or a cozy living room where you can watch football on a Saturday afternoon.
Or maybe you just want a front door you can paint pink!
Whatever home looks like to you, I’d love to help you find it.
I’ve called Middle Tennessee home for most of my life, and helping others put down roots here is one of my favorite parts of being a REALTOR®.
So, while you’re enjoying the pumpkin patches, fall festivals, and beautiful autumn days, don’t rule out the possibility of finding a home of your own.
It may still be a great time for you to become a homeowner. The first step is simply having a conversation about what’s possible.
And who knows? This time next year, you might be shopping for pumpkins to decorate your very own front porch.
If you’re thinking about buying or selling in Middle Tennessee, I’d love to help. No pressure, just honest answers and guidance when you’re ready.
